UK National Trails Cumbria Way
Cumbria Way
A well-loved 75 mile route through the heart of the Lake District National Park from Ulverston to Carlisle via Langdale and Borrowdale, Coniston, Derwent Water and Caldbeck.
There's plenty of opportunity for high-level detours but the route mostly follows the valleys, providing an excellent introduction to the area.
The Cumbria Way was devised by Cumbrian Ramblers' Association members in the mid-1970s. It is now signed with named posts.
Guides often pair the Cumbria Way with the Allerdale Ramble which is a connecting 54 mile signed route starting at Seathwaite. It shares the route of the Cumbria Way from Seatoller to near Keswick, then offers high and low level options around Skiddaw, before reaching the coast on the Solway Firth and joining the Cumbria Coastal Way. These additional trails are represented in this section.
